Portland West: Overview of Programs



Affordable Housing owns and manages 56 units of renovated, high quality, affordable housing units at 11 different locations. In March of 2004, the St. Dominic's Family Housing Project was completed, which added 12 units of affordable housing in the city of Portland.

Community Outreach
coordinates programs that serve, connect, and assist West End and Parkside residents to be active and engaged neighbors. They include The After School Learning Center, Community Resource Lab, Arts Access, and Service Works

Youth Building Alternatives (YBA) continues serving young people from 16 to 24 in an alternative education program that includes academics, GED preparation, vocational education, job skills and counseling. Their vocational education puts them on learning job sites, maintaining and constructing affordable housing.

Alternatives to Detention -Portland West continues to build on its mission by designing and implementing Alternatives to Detention, a program that provides an alternative to detention for youth awaiting a court date. Comprehensive supervision and individualized case management is provided youth; and they check into the program daily.

Back On Track -   a cognitive behavior program. The staff provides Skills for Responsible Thinking (SRT), a comprehensive, community-based program for youth engaging in risky behaviors such as crime, substance abuse, or violence.
